Lacquered thread sculpture is one of the art treasures of the 2000 years' history of lacquer art mine, an unique traditional craft in southern China, with a history of nearly 300 years. Lacquer thread sculpture is a wonderful work and masterpiece of art and Asian culture.
Lacquered thread sculpture mainly uses materials from natural plants, purely handcrafted with a privately taught skill, the procedures have stripping, coiling, twisting, piling, carving, engraving, cutting etc, all together several dozens. Each piece could cost several months or even years of professional work to create various kinds of elegant and projecting textures. The entire surface of figures is coated with 98.9% 24k gold foil to retain the original luster.
